Templestay is a cultural experience program that enables participants to experience firsthand the 1700 year old Korean Buddhist culture and traditions at a Korean temple. Traditionally templestays are held in the remote Buddhist temples in the mountains surrounded by nature, but the International Seon Center is located within the city, so the benefits of resting your weary body and mind can be achieved closer to home! Our Templestay program is designed to allow people to escape their daily lives and experience the life and discipline of a Buddhist monastery while staying within a temple for a couple days. Through spiritual training such as Zen meditation and Buddhist practices, you will achieve the kind of peace of mind that is much needed in the modern world. Thus, a temple stay is much more than a religious experience, it is a cultural experience that recharges you, helps you to handle your mental stress, and teaches you about traditional Korean culture. We would like to invite you to our temple stay program where you can learn the way of Seon (Zen) Buddhism.
Our temple stay at the International Seon Center, located within Seoul, provides various programs for everyone to experience such as:
l Learning and finding peace through Seon (Zen) meditation
l Dharma Teachings
l Traditional Korean vegetarian cooking classes
l Dado: Tea Ceremony
l Barugongyang: formal monastic meal
l Making lotus lanterns
l Purifying mind and body through 108 prostrations
l Seon Yu (breathing exercise)
and much more…
