The non-attached go upstream / 집착하지 않는 사람은 높은 곳으로 간다

He who has developed a wish for the Ineffable(Nibbana),

he whose mind realizes it (with the three Fruits),

he whose mind is not bound by material pleasures,

such a person is called an 'Upstream-bound one'.

欲能不出思正乃語心無貪愛必截流渡

신성한 것(열반)에 대한 기원을 가꾸어 온 사람,

자기 마음이 (세 가지 열매와 함께) 그것(열반)을 실현한 사람,

자기 마음이 물질적 쾌락에 얽매이지 않은 사람,

그런 사람을 일러 '높은 곳으로 가게 될 사람'이라 하네. (218)

He who is perfect in virtue and insight, is established in the Dharma,

has realized the Truths, and fulfills his own duties, is loved by all men.

貪法戒成至誠知慙行身近道爲衆所愛

덕성과 통찰력에 완벽하고 진리에 확고하며

진리를 실현하고 자신의 의무를 이룩한 사람은

모든 이들에게서 사랑을 받네. (217)

Grief springs from endearment / 아끼고 사랑하는 데에서 슬픔이 샘솟는다

From endearment springs grief, from endearment springs fear;

for him who is wholly free from endearment there is no grief,

much less fear.

好樂生憂好樂生畏無所好樂何憂何畏

아끼고 사랑하는 데에서 슬픔이 샘솟고

아끼고 살아한느 데에서 공포가 샘솟네.

아끼고 사랑하는 데에서 완전히 벗어난 사람에게는

슬플미 사라지고 두려움이 줄어드네. (212)
